A “new” concept!

In the recent weeks we have been busy with devising and elaborating the concept of our music installation. Everyone was busy with software, prototypes, marketing and design. While building the first prototypes, Alexandra and Natalia found out that the chosen shapes are difficult to realize. Because of the round shapes, it is difficult to make it appear professional. Everything works very bumpy and it was also not very stable.

That is why they have come up with a new concept for the shape of our installation. The basis of the concept stays the same as the old one. We have 3 installations. Each of them has a location assigned and a genre according to the “Music in the streets” stages. But for the exhibition we only create (for now) one installation. 

When you walk past one installation, it detects you and plays music. The installation resembles a cuboid shape with the city map carved on it and multiple switches on it. When touching the carved shapes, the installation plays music which is tied to the location (Grote kerk for example), where the main theme is guitars. Once you touch the switches located on the installation you have control over the sample which is being played, by changing, adding or removing the sounds of various instruments. Depending on which sample is turned on, Leds will light up, to indicate which shape to look at.

The shapes on the installation are based on the map of Enschede. In that way we want to create a value for Enschede Promotion.
