Building the prototype

As the sketches were approved, we, the builders team started working on the prototype. We decided to construct a smaller version of the installation, our measurements being: 10cm = 1m (in real life). To see the estimate scale of installation for materials we decided to go cheap and use cardboard.

Firstly we started building  the prototype from the pieces of cardboard, but it wasn’t stable and didn’t really hold the shape. That’s why we needed to think how to make it to hold the shape.

After we done some thinking, we came to the conclusion that we had to build a skeleton on which we would place the cardboard pieces. For the skeleton, we used the hard wire from the hair pins, and the cardboard pieces are placed on it – making the shape of the installation.

Thus once we figured out the first prototype we proceeded to making the other 2. However we have encountered issues with the last sketch as the construction felt not stable as the wires had to intersect each other, which gave us a hard time to put it together. Also it looked slightly  Therefore we changed the last sketch to a different one.

To sum up: we got our 3 prototypes and a vague idea how to build that, but we still need to research on the materials possibilities to find the best option.
